FixupXer FAQ

How link cleaning works, what stays on your device, and what happens when you open or share a result.

Does FixupXer need an internet connection?

URL processing happens locally, and the app has no network permission. When you open or share a result, Android hands the URL to another app or browser, which may use the network. Help pages open in your external browser when requested.

Does it remove every tracking parameter?

FixupXer removes known tracking parameters and keeps unknown values that may control page behavior. A site can use identifiers the app does not recognize. You can add a custom rule for some cases.

How do I clean a link?

Use Android’s Share action on a link and choose FixupXer, or paste the link in the app and tap Process URL. Review the result, then copy, share, or open it.

Is FixupXer a web browser?

FixupXer does not render pages. Optional Browser Mode lets Android route eligible HTTP(S) links to the app for local processing, then hands the result to a browser or another action you choose.

Will Browser Mode catch every link?

Android decides which app receives each link. Verified App Links can go directly to their associated app, and an in-app browser may open a page without using the Android default browser.

Can I read X posts without signing in?

A supported X reader can display public posts. The reader is an independent service; its availability and thread support can change. FixupXer does not grant access to private posts.

Does FixupXer create a social-media preview?

It can optionally rewrite supported social links to an embed frontend. A chat app may then request a preview from that external service. Whether it appears depends on both the service and the app receiving the link.

Are my URLs saved?

Optional History is on by default and stores entries locally; you can disable it, delete entries, or clear it. Private Link Guard checks for a limited set of sensitive clues and prevents some originals from being saved. Android may back up app preferences according to your device and account settings.

Can I add my own URL cleanup rules?

Yes. Custom rules are off by default. Review their scope and action, then use Test Lab to preview them locally before enabling. Read the custom-rules guide.

Which platforms and Android versions are supported?

FixupXer supports Android 5.0 and newer. Cleaning and conversion options vary by platform and context; see the current supported-platform list.
