Download only from the official project release. Android may ask you to allow installation from the app that opens the APK. Install it, then turn that permission off again if you no longer need it.
Stores can use different signing arrangements. If Android refuses an update when switching download sources, do not assume the files are interchangeable. Export any settings or custom rules you want to keep before considering a reinstall; URL history is not included in that backup.
